Mother of Amy Lord stabbed to death weeps in court during murder trial
The mother of a Boston woman who was abducted, robbed and killed in 2013 broke down on Tuesday as she took to the stand of her daughter's murder trial.
Amy Lord, 24, was carjacked as she left her South Boston apartment two summers ago and forced to withdraw money from five ATMs before being taken to Hyde Park, where she was beaten and ultimately stabbed to death.
The accused killer, Eldwin Alemany, 30, sat motionless in court as Amy's heartbroken mother, Cindy Lord, cried as she viewed surveillance images of her daughter taken at the cash machines, moments before her death.
Looking at one image, Mrs Lord spoke through tears as she said Amy was wearing a necklace she had bought her as a 23rd birthday present.

'How many children do you have today?' Assistant District Attorney John Pappas asked Mrs Lord, The Boston Globe reported.
'I have two daughters,' Mrs Lord replied.
“Did you have a third daughter, ma’am?' the prosecutor asked.
'Yes, Amy Elizabeth,' Mrs Lord said.
In looking at the surveillance image, Mrs Lord was asked what she saw.
She said her daughters left cheek and eye seemed swollen, and that there also appeared to be a cut on her lip.
'She’s wearing the angel’s wing necklace,' Mrs Lord added, saying that Amy wore the necklace every day.
In the images and other footage, Amy is seen getting out of her Jeep and going to the cash machines.
Amy, a digital marketer, left her Dorchester home at 5.30am to take a bus downtown to go to the gym with a friend on July 23, 2013.
She had spoken to her mom on the phone the night before, telling her how she had just signed up for a new membership and was excited to go.
However she never made to the gym.

After the murder, officials said Alemany spent $400 in cash on a cellphone and paid some cellphone bills.
Alemany has been in and out of prison for years and may have been staying with a friend - illegally - at a South Boston public housing complex nearby.
He is also suspected of carrying out two attacks similar to what happened to Amy in the same area.
One occurred just hours before Amy's murder, and the other just after.

Alemany's lawyers have not disputed the charges against him.
They are preparing an insanity defense to present to the court.
However at the time of his arrest, prosecutors said Alemany was of a sound mind.
Alemany showed no emotion during Cindy Lord’s testimony.
