The creepiest playgrounds in the world revealed
It's difficult to figure out, looking at these playgrounds, how they ever came to be.
Who thought it might be a good idea, for example, to liven up a sandpit with the statue of a garish witch, or create a climbing frame draped with plastic skeletons?
While the aforementioned monstrosities were found in Sweden and Germany, the lion's share of creepy playgrounds spotted and submitted to Imgur over the years have been in Russia.
One Russian park features the stature of an inebriated-looking pig, while another showcases the figure of a maniacal tool-wielding doctor.
Other places that play host to bizarre playgrounds include South Korea, in which a disturbing tunnel was found that was built using statues of children bending over.
Here, MailOnline Travel has compiled a collection of frankly terrifying play areas from around the world that are anything but child-friendly.
This decidedly morbid climbing frame was captured in the garden behind a church called Heilig-Kreuz Kirche in Munich, Germany
This disturbing tunnel arrangement was shared to Imgur by a user who wrote: 'My friend is in South Korea and she saw this in a playground'
